Services Offered
Referrals
CCI is a community based organization and is, therefore, a part of a network of service
providers.  More than 20,000 calls per year are received.  Many callers are referred to
other community resources where their inquiry is solved directly.  Our programs owe
much of their success to the open supportive nature of this network.

Computer Literacy / Competency
At present CCI has 3 operating computer labs with scheduled classes.  Certification
and college credit are granted to students who follow prescribed attendance and
curriculum.  Call Kina Chapman at (323) 752-2115 for information and current class
schedule.

Support Service
Groups such as Cocaine Anonymous (Jacob's Ladder) are supported by the Center
and other organizations.  Alcoholics Anonymous for Spanish speaking clients meets
twice a week.  Other support groups such as literacy and self-esteem groups are
formed as a result of Center program participation.

Literacy / Tutoring
Adult Literacy is done by request and matching with a volunteer tutor and the
participant.  Confidentiality is respected.

Tutoring is done through request and matching with a volunteer tutro.  Sliding scale
fees are charged if the parent or guardian is not a registered eligible participant in a
CCI program.

Family literacy is available for family units who want to improve their reading skills,
learn more effective communication skill, and use educational activities to improve
their overall quality of life.

ESL / Basic Skills
Basic Skills remediation is done through classroom training supplemented by
computer lab practice and/or volunteer mentors/tutors.  English as a Second
Language classes are offered days, evenings, and weekends at different sites
throughout the City of Los Angeles.  Center staff schedules new classes based on
client requests and/or convenience.
